'Norfolk Tides Tickets'

'The Norfolk Tides play baseball in the Triple-A International League. The team spent 38 years as a farm team for Major League Baseball's New York Mets. Currently, the Tides are affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles. The team moved to the Tidewater area of Virginia from Jacksonville, Fla., in 1969. The team won a pennant while playing its first season in Tidewater at Lawerence Stadium in Portsmouth. Not long after, the team began playing at the 6,200-seat Met Stadium built for them in Norfolk. The success for the Norfolk Tides lasted throughout the 1970s and '80s as the team won five Governors Cup Championships. The Tides also won the first-ever Triple-A World Series in 1983. The 2006 season marked the end of the relationship between the Tides and the New York Mets, but it did not take long for the Tides to strike a partnership with the Baltimore Orioles.
