Madi Diaz grew up amongst the rolling hills and Amish farms that surrounded her Lancaster, Pennsylvania home. Because she was home schooled, she was able to focus on the subjects she really loved and excelled at. One of these subjects was music, and she realized at an early age that she had a talent for it. Along with piano lessons Diaz's father-a guitarist in the Frank Zappa tribute band, Project Object--began teaching his daughter how to play the guitar. The two would sit for hours, going through old records, harmonizing with great singers and songwriters of the 1970s and figuring out the chords and notes as they went. Diaz attended School of Rock in Philadelphia, where she was a star pupil and was the focus of documentary called Rock School. After graduating from the school, she enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Although she didn't graduate from the prestigious music school, she met her long-time music partner Kyle Ryan. The two have played together for years, and you can still hear his hauntingly beautiful lyrics weaving in and out of Diaz's songs.
