''The Halifax Mooseheads — a major junior hockey program from the Canadian province of Nova Scotia — has a long, successful record of developing top talent up to the age of 20. Many Halifax alumni have gone on to play in the professional leagues, including the NHL. The Mooseheads franchise was founded in 1993 following the departure of the Halifax Citadels from the professional American Hockey League. In 2013, Halifax won its first-ever President’s Cup with a five-game victory over Baie-Comeau. As the champion of the QMJHL, the team went on to represent the league in the Memorial Cup, which determines the best team in Canadian major junior hockey. In the final, Halifax triumphed over the Portland Winterhawks from the WHL to capture the coveted cup. The Mooseheads returned to the Memorial Cup in 2019 as the host, but it lost to league foe Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the final. Fans of major junior hockey can purchase Halifax Mooseheads tickets at StubHub, a leading source for live events.'
'Two former Mooseheads players have gone first overall in the NHL draft: Nathan MacKinnon to Colorado in 2013 and Nico Hischier to New Jersey in 2017. Jonathan Drouin, who ranks fourth all-time in career goals for Halifax, also went third overall to Tampa Bay in the 2013 draft. Other first-round draft picks include Jakub Voracek (seventh to Columbus in 2007), Pascal Leclaire (eighth to Columbus in 2001), Timo Meier (ninth to San Jose in 2015) and Nikolaj Ehlers (ninth to Winnipeg in 2014). Brandon Benedict holds the team’s all-time records for points, goals and assists.'
'During the 2018 to 2019 season, Halifax finished at the top of the Eastern Conference with 102 points and a record of 49-15-2-2. In the first round of the playoffs, Halifax triumphed over the Quebec Remparts in a hard-fought seven-game series. The team then proceeded to sweep the Moncton Wildcats and claim the conference crown with a six-game victory over the Drummondville Voltigeurs. However, the season came to an end with a six-game loss to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the finals. The two powerhouses fought each other evenly through the first four games, but the Huskies won the next two games 6-3 and 4-0 to capture the league title. Halifax also lost to the Huskies in the Memorial Cup final.'
