Alejandro Sanz started playing the guitar at age seven. In his teenage years, he would perform at different venues in his hometown. After meeting a music industry executive, Sanz was given a record deal with Hispavox, a Spanish record label. Alejandro Sanz's debut album,
Los Chulos Son Pa' Cuidarlos
, was produced under the name Alejandro Magno. Initially, the album was not very successful, which led Sanz to perform in between acts at clubs. Since his own album was not doing very well, Alejandro decided to take a job writing lyrics for other artists instead. After sending demos of his songs to a plethora of record companies, he was signed by Warner Music Latina and published his music under Alejandro Sanz. In 1991, he released
Viviendo Deprisa
, which featured two songs that became quite popular in Spain titled Se le Apagó la Luz and Pisando Fuerte. Two years later, Sanz released
Si Tú Me Miras
followed by
Básico
, a live album. As Alejandro's fame continued to rise, he recorded a song, titled Mi Primera Canción, with one of his idols,
Paco de Lucía
. In 1995, Sanz announced his third studio album under Warner Music Latina, titled
3
. The lead single La Fuerza del Corazón was Sanz's first track to chart internationally.
