Albert Theatre at Goodman Theater - Complex

'Goodman Theatre Tickets'

'

Established in 1922, the Goodman Theatre is one of the oldest theaters in Chicago. It was established by the parents of Kenneth Sawyer Goodman, who died in 1918 after having published and produced a number of plays. Although the original Goodman Theatre was built in 1922, this is not the same theater that stands today, and the location has actually moved. In the 1980s, people such as the Goodman Board of Trustees, grew concerned about the aging building, but they decided that building a new theater on top of the old one wasn't feasible. Instead, they built a theater on its current location. Through a donation by one of Kenneth Sawyer Goodman's distant cousins, it has also maintained the Goodman name. The new Goodman Theatre opened in 2000 and shows plays, such as

The Winters Tale

and

The Music Man

'The Goodman Theatre accommodates a number of physical and cognitive differences. The theater has designated parking, accessible entrances and accessible seating for people with mobility problems. Patrons who are blind or have low vision can use the braille-printed and large-print programs. There are also audio-described performances. For people who are deaf, some of the performances are ASL-interpreted. There are also assistive-listening devices for people who are hard of hearing. Some of the plays also have performances for people with sensory sensitivities, such as those with autism.'

'What happens when someone is late to a Goodman Theatre event?'

'When patrons are late for a show, they will be seated at the discretion of the manager. Late patrons might not be seated in their ticket seats until intermission. This is to ensure that all patrons have an undisturbed experience.'

'Are children allowed to attend shows?'

'Some shows are more appropriate for children than others, but babies in arms are generally not permitted.'
