Since the circa 1912 structure was first taken over by promotor extraordinaire Bill Graham in the mid-‘60s, The Fillmore has stood out as one of the nation’s premier rock/pop venues. Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Who, Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Santana, Frank Zappa, Cream, Otis Redding, the Grateful Dead, and Jefferson Airplane are just a few of the legendary acts who’ve graced the stage on the corner of Geary and Fillmore. Tom Petty played here on 27 occasions. More recently, The all-ages venue has hosted acts like Willie Nelson, Bob Mould, Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, Grizzly Bear, Eels and Beach House. Grab your Fillmore tickets at StubHub.
This is a general admission, standing-room-only venue, with an open-dance-floor capacity of 1,315.
The Fillmore can be accessed via the 22 and 38 Muni bus lines.
The Fillmore does not offer parking, however, there are several parking facilities nearby, including the Fillmore Heritage Garage (1310 Fillmore St.) and Japan Center Garage (1656, 1670 Fillmore Street).
While The Fillmore itself offers a full dining menu, there are myriad food-and-drink options nearby in the Fillmore, Japantown and Western Addition neighborhoods, including State Bird Provisions (the 2013 James Beard Award winner for Best New Restaurant), Noosh, OTD, Hinodeya, Pizzeria Delfina, DOSSA, Florio, SPQR, The Social Study, and The Elite Cafe.
The Boom Boom Room, Audium, Great American Music Hall, and several Japantown karaoke bars are among the many music-related venues nearby. You can also catch a film at the AMC Kabuki 8 or Clay theaters.
